It was a sad day for the fans, supporters and players of Barcelona Football Academy of Lagos following 9-1 humiliating defeat suffered in the hands of unstoppable Prince Kazeem Eletu U-15 Football Academy in a friendly match played yesterday.
When both teams met recently at Campos sports centre, it was Barcelona Academy that won the encounter on 4-2 but the return leg was a big blow to the Barcelona Academy team when they were completely outplayed from the blast of the whistle till the end by the visiting team, Prince Kazeem Eletu Academy.
Prince Eletu Football Academy player, Yussuf Eletu drew the first blood when he scored at the close range in the 15th minutes. The early goal spurred Eletu boys to see Bright Abraham scored two quick goals in the 23th and 35th minutes respectively.
The effort of Barca Football Academy to reduce the tally hit brickwall as Eletu scored another goal made it fourth goal before the half time. The early second half quickly saw Raymond Oboh to register his own goal in the 46th minutes to make the encounter 5-0.
The effort of home team, Barca Football Academy was rewarded in the 56th minutes when Fabian scored consolatory goal to give the team confidence. But their goal was short-lived as Kareem Adenifuji scored brace, while Eletu and Oboh completed their onslaught before the referee blew the final whistle.
Prince Kazeem Eletu Academy coach, Wale Oris expressed happiness with the team performance. He said they won the game because his players played to instructions. He described their opponents as a good side but noted that his players were technically superior than them.
In his own remark, Technical Director of Prince Kazeem Eletu Academy, Alex Coppolani congratulated the boys for their historic victory recorded against their opponents. He said the outcome of the match was a clear indication that all the coaching crew and management are working round the clock for the success of the team.
“Of course I am happy that the boys lived up to expectations in their performances. We won today ( Saturday) not because we want to revenge the defeat we suffered against them when first met but we won as a result of collective effort between players and coaching staff.Let me use this medium to congratulate this boy once again for the job well done and I wish the excellent performance should continue in our subsequent matches,” he said.
Meanwhile Prince Kazeem Eletu senior team on Friday could not live up to expectations as The Charlesann FC from Ago- Okota forced them to play goalless draw in a friendly match played at Agege Stadium. The Eletu team gave good account of themselves but they were unlucky in area of goal scoring. They outplayed their opponents but failed to convert their begging chances that came their way which led the encounter ended in a barren draw.
Eletu senior team on Tuesday would meet Agali Boys in another friendly match scheduled for Agege Stadium at 12 pm.
